Meet Koda: A Small Reminder to Slow Down
Share

Not everything meant to bring you calm has to be quiet.
Koda was created as a warm, uplifting presence—a small character designed to bring a bit of lightness into your everyday space. He carries a gentle kind of energy… the kind that doesn’t demand your attention, but still manages to soften a moment when you notice it.
He didn’t start out fully formed.
Like most things I create, Koda came from a feeling before he ever became a finished design. There was this sense that I wanted to capture—something comforting, a little playful, but still grounded. Not overly serious, not overly loud… just something that felt good to come back to.
As I worked on him, I found myself refining small details—his shape, his expression, the way he holds himself—until he started to feel more like himself. Not a completely different character, just a clearer version of what he was always meant to be.
That’s something I’m learning through this process.
Creating isn’t always about getting it perfect the first time. Sometimes it’s about returning, adjusting, and trusting that instinct when something feels slightly off… and following it until it feels right.
Koda became that moment for me.
Now, I imagine him living in the quiet spaces of your day—not necessarily silent, but gentle. On your laptop while you work. On a journal you reach for when you need a reset. Somewhere small, but present.
A reminder that slowing down doesn’t always mean stopping everything.
Sometimes it just means letting something feel a little easier.
That’s what Koda represents.
A small, steady presence. A bit of warmth. A soft kind of grounding that fits into real life, not outside of it.
He’s one of the first pieces in what I’m building with Mystic Maker—a growing world of characters and designs meant to carry meaning, intention, and a little bit of magic into everyday spaces.
And this is just the beginning for him.
